One practice that unites all religions to make this world a safer and hygienic place

Ever wondered if religions would have not existed in this world then how this world would have been? Would humans still feel complete without their religion?

Religion has existed in this world since time immemorial as till date no one could find out a strong relation between early man and any religion.

So do humans need religion in their life because the world order has been established like this or does religion helps a human to carve themselves and their beliefs for living in this world? Does religion sustain humans or vice-versa?  All of these are debatable questions, as many people feel that half of the problems existing in this world is because of religions, whether it is the extremism of any religion or caste systems purging out of religion there is no doubt that certain conflicts of the world do exist because of religion.

Nevertheless, whether the problems of the world exist because of religions or because of people using religion to fulfil their ulterior motive?  We shall leave you to decide and judge better.

This blog isn’t about the goods or bads of religions but merely an attempt to show that despite of multi religions and their differences, each religion intends only to do good for the mankind. Therefore,In this blog, we would like to highlight some positive attributes of certain religions that are important for all of us to know and practice especially while entering the new world after the pandemic of Coronavirus in order to save the mankind.

Religion practice that can save the world? How?

Today there are over 4300 religions in the world, out of which 12 religions have been identified as the major religions, each of them have a common goal to save and do better for the mankind. Thus, in this light it becomes pertinent to highlight that certain religions have been teaching an important practice since ages, which if we would have followed regularly and wholeheartedly, then maybe the pandemic of Coronavirus would have never spread like a wildfire.

The practice of washing hands has been considered as an integral part of many religions, as in some religions before offering prayers cleaning hands thoroughly is a must while, in some other religions sprinkling holy water on hands before the consecration of brand and wine is a non-negotiable protocol therefore, it can be inferred that many religions consider washing hands as an important way of connecting to the divine.

WHAT HAND WASHING MEANS IN DIFFERENT RELIGIONS?

Researchers of human development have suggested that humans learn the routine of washing hands thoroughly in the first 10 years of their age. On the other hand, a human’s relation with their religion also keeps changing as they grow older, some humans grow more fond of it, some become astray and some find a middle ground between their religion and personal thinking but there is no doubt that religion does play a great role in the personal development of a human which intrinsically helps them in building their societal relations.

Even if there are numerous religions existing in the world, every religion has some practices or requirement of washing hands as an important routine of their religion such as, in Sikhism, Sikhs always need to wash their hands properly with soap and water before dressing a cut or a wound whereas, in Islam personal hygiene is given great importance before offering prayers (namaz) as according to Quran it has been explicitly mentioned that before offering namaz one has to wash their hands, face, forearms, ears, nose, mouth and feet three times each without fail.

Not only in Asian countries but even in many Western traditions hand washing practices are very much part of their religious beliefs for example in certain African countries like Ghana and Western African countries, one has to make sure to wash their hands thoroughly before raising anything near the lips. Furthermore, the practice of handwashing is so integral to this culture that they need to also provide a bowl of water with special leaves outside their house to welcome visitors before they enter the house.

In the Jewish religion, washing hands right after waking up is considered as pivotal because it is believed that while sleeping at night (according to Judaism, the night sleep is considered as a period of sixtieth of death) the spirit must have travelled to places and the hands must have touched impurities that may not be visible to the naked eyes, therefore, after waking up it is a must and regular practice to wash hands as first thing in the morning so that all invisible impurities are thoroughly washed away.

Thus, it cannot be denied that religion though may differ from each other but certain practices shall always be similar and the core of all the religions would always be the same i.e, to save humanity and make the world a better and safer place to live in.

Keeping in mind the importance of washing hands especially in current Corona times, Hi-Genie is in a constant effort of making the world aware about the importance of washing hands regularly and maintaining robust standards of hygiene levels.
